Small Business Website Design

Most small businesses do not need a large website. They need a clear one: a site that explains what you do, shows you are credible, works properly on a phone and makes it easy to call or send an enquiry. That is what this service delivers.

Who this is for

  • New businesses that need a professional website for the first time.
  • Established businesses still relying on a Facebook page, a directory listing or a one-page template.
  • Local service businesses such as inspectors, contractors, cleaners and repair companies.
  • Owners who want a WordPress site they own and can update themselves.

If your business serves many towns and you want a page for each, the service-area website service is a better fit. If you already have a site that needs updating, see website redesign.

A typical small business website structure

  • Home. What you do, who you do it for, why to choose you, and a clear call to action.
  • About. The people behind the business, experience, licences and anything that builds trust.
  • Services. What you offer, with enough detail for a customer to decide to call.
  • Contact. Phone, email, a short enquiry form, service area and hours.
  • FAQ (optional). Answers to the questions you hear on every call.

What is built in

  • Mobile-first layout, tested on real phones as well as desktop browsers.
  • Tap-to-call phone number visible on every page.
  • A lead form that sends enquiries straight to your email.
  • Basic SEO setup: page titles, meta descriptions, headings, an XML sitemap and Google Search Console submission.
  • Sensible speed basics: compressed images, caching and no unnecessary plugins.
  • A short walkthrough so you can update text and images yourself.

What you supply, and what is quoted separately

You supply: your logo, the text for each page (or notes I can tidy up), photos of your work and team if you have them, and access to your domain and hosting. If you do not have hosting yet, I will recommend options.

Quoted separately: domain and hosting fees, paid themes or plugins, extra pages, full copywriting, logo design, e-commerce, booking or CRM integrations, and ongoing SEO. Nothing is added without your agreement.

Package scope and price

The Starter Business Website package starts from $199 and covers the structure above. The full list of what is included, revision rounds, delivery assumptions and exclusions is on the pricing page. Larger sites and custom functionality are quoted from a written scope.

Relevant work

Examples of local business sites I have worked on include Serenity Home Inspection, Hudson Valley Home Inspections and Access Garage Doors. See more work.

Common questions

How long does it take?

A starter site is usually ready within about two weeks once the content is in. The timeline is confirmed when the scope is agreed, because waiting on content is the most common cause of delay.

Can I add pages later?

Yes. The site is built on WordPress, so new pages can be added by you or by me at any time.
